2021 Zaha Chardonnay

a close up of a bottle and a glass of wine

May 18, 2023

For our 2023 2nd Quarter Chef's Table and Wine Dinner we were able to feature wines from the Teho winery in Mendoza.

The Zaha Chardonnay is from Tunuyán.  Due to the unique high elevation of the vineyard, this wine has nice acidity.  The wine is aged in concrete with lees contact - this makes for a lovely almost Burgundian type of chardonnay.

In the glass the wine presents as lovely gold to lemon color.  On the nose, I pick up a relatively floral wine with hints of stone fruit and apple.

On the palate the wine has a medium mouthfeel.  Most of the fruit hits me center palate with stone fruit, apple, and maybe a hint of lemon.

This is a perfect wine to sit on our patio and enjoy one of Chef Bruno's Ensalada Gaucha (ok, I prefer mine with chicken) or a Pollo Pincho for dinner.

Producer: Bodega Teho

Region: Tunuyán, Argentina

Grape: Chardonnay

Vintage: 2021

Why we chose this wine: a wonderful example of a high elevation chardonnay produced in a more fruit forward and non-oaked style.
